Get excited to be a part of the 66th-year Annual Canada Day Festival. It is the city's longest-running event of its kind, attracting families from across the GTA.

The day kicks off with the famous Parade beginning at Dieppe Park at 10:30 am and making its way to Stan Wadlow Park.

Beginning at 11:00 am, Stan Wadlow Park will be bustling with main stage entertainment midway, expanded kids activities, artisan market food vendors and the beer garden hosted by Muddy York.

The day ends with a spectacular fireworks show presented by the City of Toronto.

A SHORT HISTORY

True Davidson was prominent in East York during the 1950s and 1960s. Always involved in politics, she was an Alderman (now called Councillor), a Reeve in the Township of East York and later the first Mayor when the towns of Leaside and East York joined to create the Borough of East York.

In 1957 she created a celebration to acknowledge Dominion Day (now Canada Day) in East York. It included a parade made up of local groups in the area and was followed by a party on the lawns of the township (now the East York Civic Centre), where these groups could promote what they did in the community. Locals decorated their bikes and drove along the parade route, which historically began in Thorncliffe Park. The evening ended with entertainment and a dance. In 1962 the event moved to Stan Wadlow Park, where the tradition to celebrate Canada Day continues.
