About this Event

Ready, set, run! East Nasty is excited to open registration for our free half marathon and marathon training program for 2024! Training will start in January and end in April.

This 16-week training plan will focus on structured and guided Saturday long runs, and help you build not only a strong, race-ready body, but a running community to encourage you along the journey. Our target race is always the St. Jude Rock’n’Roll Nashville Marathon and Half Marathon, held on April 27, 2024, but we encourage anyone to join us. Fun fact, training for the half marathon was how East Nasty began over 15 years ago! As always, the training program is FREE and open to anyone.

Once you register*, meeting locations, updates, and the weekly training specifics will come to you by email, Facebook, and through your pace leaders. For the full marathon training, most training runs will start early and then meet up with the half training group for additional mileage. Our detailed training plan, with milegae and meeting locations, will be sent via email in late December 2023.

*You will be asked sign an injury waiver form during registration to participate.

The Program:

Beginning Saturday, January 13th, we'll start our structured long runs, for which you'll join a pace group based on your desired finish time. The training will continue through Rock 'n' Roll race day on April 27th. The training program consists of:

LONG RUNS on Saturday mornings led by volunteer pace group leaders in different locations throughout the city. Half training will start at 8am. Full training start times will vary by distance, but will generally start earlier than half groups.

SUGGESTED WEEKLY WORKOUTS to follow during the week. Saturday runs are great, but to really prepare for a race, mid-week training is essential. We'll provide some basics for you to modify to suit your own needs.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RUNS with East Nasty. We run together as a club every Wednesday at 6p from 12th & Holly near 5 Points. We highly encourage our trainees to join these runs, but they are not a mandatory part of the program.

COACHES AND PACE LEADERS who can give lots of support and advice, and will guide your Saturday morning runs.

Cost: As with all East Nasty programs, training with us is absolutely FREE!

Training Requirements: We ask that you are able to run 5 miles without stopping on the first day of training for half marathon training or 8 miles for full marathon training.

Health Protocols: Because of the continuing prevalence of COVID-19 and variants, we respectfully ask that all participants in this training series comply with CDC recommendations and guidelines, as applicable. We ask that all participants refrain from attending a session if they are experiencing indicators of respiratory symptoms, or other contagious symptoms. East Nasty reserves the right to add additional requirements or protocols at any time based on evolving conditions.
