East Liberty native Joseph Bathanti will read from and discuss his 2001 coming-of-age novel “East Liberty,” set between 1955 and 1963 and drawn from his childhood experiences. Bathanti teaches creative writing at Appalachian State University and is a mentor to MFA students at Carlow University, where he is in residence each January. The author of three novels, seven poetry collections and a book of short stories, Bathanti is a past poet laureate of North Carolina. This is a free event in the Parish Hall with free parking in the church lot.
