About the songwriters:
Nova Scotia raised, Ottawa-based singer-songwriter MALIA ROGERS has a clear musical mission: be the first person in the room to drop her shield, and in doing so, move others to lower their own. Her introspective, conversational folk offerings carefully balance melancholy and hope, touching audiences with precise lyricism, warmed-honey vocals, and thoughtful, spacious instrumentation. Malia invites you into the corners of her heart the way she would invite you into her family home on the East Coast: put down the heavy bags, stay as long as you need, and take something with you when you go.
Prince Edward Islander OLIVIA BLACQUIERE has an extraordinary way of captivating audiences with stories told through song. Rooted in the Island’s rich cultural traditions, she draws inspiration from generations of step dancers, storytellers, and musicians who have nurtured her deep connection to music. For Olivia, music starts at the heart. She was raised where PEI’s rugged red soil meets the gentle stillness of the sea : a place alive with kitchen parties, fiddle tunes, and stories shared from one generation to the next.
Based in Ottawa, Acadian singer-songwriter JULIE STELLA describes her music as moody, sad girl vibes. Some might describe her songs as nostalgic, while others might say they’re heartbreaking. Julie writes songs to dig through the complex layers of despair, grief and healing.Growing up in a small town in New Brunswick, Julie was drawn to music of all genres. Many artists influenced her sound and her style, including Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Chantal Kreviazuk and The Cranberries.
