Come on out for a community square dance at the Hillside Club, open to everyone! With caller Connor Maguire! Round Top Stringband plays live old-time music! No experience necessary; no partner necessary. Kids welcome. The caller teaches each dance right before we dance it.Doors open: 7:45 pm
Square dancing: 8:00-10:00 pm
Old-time jam (separate room): 6:45-8:00 pm
This is a queer-friendly event where everyone can dance any role. The caller uses the terms "ladies" and "gents" in some of the dances; these terms can refer to anyone who is dancing those roles.
BYOB: You may bring beer and wine. No hard alcohol allowed.
Wear dance shoes if you have them! No stiletto heels allowed.
$20 general admission (recommended)
$15 member of Hillside Club or of BACDS
$25 supporter
$6 student or low-income

We accept cash and venmo. Paying with cash is quicker!
This is a traditional or old-time square dance (not a modern or club dance). All dancers are welcome.
The old-time jam is open to all. The jam is free. If you join the square dance, please contribute.
We encourage you to bring your water bottles to save cups.

This dance is organized by the Bay Area Country Dance Society (BACDS). Everyone is welcome to become a member of BACDS and to attend other BACDS dances.

This monthly dance is usually held on the third Friday of the month. In September, the dance will be on Friday, September 26th (the fourth Friday) to avoid conflict with the Berkeley Old Time Music Convention.
