Join us in experiencing the People's Kitchen Collective's documentary film Earthseed and share your voice about the importance of honoring our ancestors, building community solidarity, practicing radical hospitality, and asserting land sovereignty in today’s world. Earth Seed brings attention to the material conditions, resource challenges, and activism efforts happening across California, and it invites us to reflect on what we can do to support each other’s survival—while also caring deeply for ourselves.
The film follows a profound pilgrimage through California, from present-day Los Angeles to Mendocino Woodlands, that took place from March to June 2023. Along the way, we connected with people and places that are creating models for survival and shaping our collective future.
Inspired by Octavia Butler’s Parables series, the legacy of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, and the diaspora of the Global South, EARTH SEED practices radical hospitality as a form of survival. It’s a way to deepen our relationships with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color activists, artists, educators, farmers, youth, and elders, fostering a sense of community and resilience.
