Save the Dismal Ltd., will finish off Earth Day weekend with a 3 mile roundtrip hike at the Great Dismal Canal Trail, Chesapeake, Va. We will start at the North Trailhead.Along the way we will talk about the history, uses and peoples that have defined the park since the colonialist arrived. We will also point out wildlife and plant species. There are threats to the ecological and historical integrity of the Swamp that we will point out that are current at this time. We will speak on this as well.
Bring some bug-away spray, sunscreen, water, a hat, a wrap and a snack to keep you comfortable on the hike.
The path we will take is actually on ald paved, highway. So there will be no mud to track home!
