EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES:>Trees to be given away by the NPNRD (limited supply)
>Platte Valley Bank - Document Shredding
(personal shred ONLY - remove all metal fasteners, 3-ring binders and spiral notebooks.)
>Well water sample testing completed by the SHS FFA Chapter
(Bring a small container of well water to have it tested for nitrates. Label your container with your last name.)
>Gering Public Library - information booth
>City of Gering Landfill used oil collection
We will NOT be accepting plastic grocery sacks at the Earth Day event. Most grocery stores accept plastic grocery sacks for recycling.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL:
We will be accepting the following items:
• Flammable liquids (gasoline, kerosene, thinners, antifreeze)
• Household, Lawn, Garden, and Pool Chemicals
• Mercury (liquid, thermometers, relays/switches)
• Stains & Varnishes - NO PAINT ACCEPTED
• Fluorescent Light Bulbs
• Auto Batteries
• Propane Cylinders
We are waiving the fee for 2024 due to the generous support from our local sponsors.
Donations will be accepted!
The quote for the 2024 HHW event is over $56,000.00. That is an increase of $18,000.00 from last years quote.
RESIDENTIAL ONLY! NO trailer loads.
NO Commercial products accepted.
NO Tires, Pharmaceuticals, Electronics, Household Batteries, Paint, Appliances or Construction Waste accepted.
City of Scottsbluff Environmental Services accepts electronics, household batteries and paint in original containers during business hours, all year long. Battery terminals MUST be taped.
City of Gering Landfill accepts tires, for a fee, during business hours, all year long.
