Earth Day at the Amphibian Foundation

The Consulates General of Switzerland and Germany together with the Amphibian Foundation (AF) are delighted to invite you to celebrate Earth Day 2024 with us!

The AF is dedicated to connecting individuals, communities, and organizations in order to create and implement lasting solutions to the global amphibian extinction crisis. They provide unique educational opportunities for all ages to learn about amphibians and inspire conservation.

Join us for a moderated hybrid discussion round with Mark Mandica, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Amphibian Foundation in Atlanta, Irina Bregenzer, who advises administrations, NGO’s, companies, and the public on amphibians and their conservation in Switzerland, and Amadeus Plewnia, Graduate Student at Universität Trier in Germany.

Following the discussion, we will visit the AF's outdoor laboratory comprising 20 miniature ecosystems – so-called mesocosms – which hold hundreds of endangered amphibians in propagation colonies.

This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Make sure to reserve your spot at your earliest convenience.

PARKING INFO: As parking is limited, we recommend carpooling or using taxis/Uber/Lyft to get to the AF. If you come by car, please use the parking lot located at 4055 Roswell Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342. Once that parking lot is full, you can utilize street parking on Rickenbacker Drive, which runs behind the preserve. There is a gravel walkway across from 4063 Rickenbacker Drive, which leads directly to the parking lot.

There is a large gray building next to the parking lot, which is where the event will take place. Please enter through the door to the right hand side of the building, up the small paved driveway where the the big yellow X is. There will be either a person or signage to guide you upstairs to the classroom.

Please note, the AF facility is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible (the classroom is on the upper level and the building does not have an elevator).
