Earth Day 2024 - Story Time with Kari Percival

For the third year, Seaport by WS Development is partnering with Speak For The Trees to bring a variety of activities to Seaport in celebration of Arbor Week and to support their mission to improve the size, health and equity of the urban tree canopy in Boston, with a focus on under-resourced and under-canopied neighborhoods.

Local author and illustrator, Kari Percival will be reading her book How to Say Hello to a Worm at Martin's Park! Enjoy a story hour with Kari followed by a hands-on activity for kids and adults, as well as a complimentary signed copy of Kari's book. Not able to join us on Saturday? An exciting, new public space is opening in Boston's Seaport – Harbor Way. Upon its completion in 2024, this one third of a mile pedestrian promenade will change the way Seaport connects to Boston Harbor by creating a vital pedestrian link between Summer Street and the waterfront. A collaboration between WS Development, leading landscape architect James Corner Field Operations, and Pentagram, a world-renowned design consultancy, Harbor Way's design is inspired by a hybrid of New England's coastal geology, forest landscapes, and traditional wooden boardwalks.

August 16, 2017, marked the culmination of immense generosity, commitment to community and dedication to building a more kind and peaceful world. Joined by family, friends, Mayor Walsh, Governor Baker and countless supporters– The Richard’s broke ground on Martin’s Park: a universally accessible park and playground adjacent to the Boston Children’s Museum.

Growing up in Dorchester, Martin Richard spent long hours playing at the various fields and playgrounds around the city. Here, Martin learned the value of community, teamwork, fairness, and kindness. Martin’s Park is a symbol of Martin’s welcoming, inclusive nature as well as a place where he, his siblings and friends would have loved exploring and being together. This unique, public, outdoor space will ensure Martin’s legacy remains a vibrant and positive influence for future generations.
