Early Years ELSA - Summer 2026

The EY ELSA course involves 5 full days of training covering the following topics:

• Understanding Emotional Development, including: Responding in the moment, Emotional literacy/coaching, active listening and circle techniques
• Understanding play for children's emotional development, including therapeutic stories
• Supporting communication of emotion and distress and practical strategies
• Understanding how children co-regulate and begin to self-regulate
• Loss and bereavement and bespoke ELSA programme planning

Early Years ELSAs are Early Years Practitioners who have received additional training from the Educational Psychology Service. Following the training course, Early Years ELSAs receive ongoing group supervision from an Educational Psychologist.

Early Years ELSA training is available from Nottinghamshire Educational Psychology Service and commissioned by the Virtual School. This includes:

• 5 full days of training provided by the Educational Psychology Service
• 2 years of half-termly group supervision from an Educational Psychologist

Day 1 - 13/05/2026, 9am - 4pm

Day 2 - 20/05/2026, 9am - 4pm

Day 3 - 10/06/2026, 9am - 4pm

Day 4 - 17/06/2026, 9am - 4pm

Day 5 - 08/07/2026, 9am - 4pm
