Torben Brown draws on wide-reaching and varied musical roots to play a broad, accessible and surprising repertoire of original and cover music which spans eras, styles and continents. Torben has become a staple of the Vancouver country scene, while also playing jazz, rock, reggae and world music gigs ‘on the other pickup.’
Although known mostly as a ‘chicken-picker’, Torben’s guitar sound is deep and varied, moving between tremolo drenched Americana on one gig, to sophisticated jazz on the next. He sings intuitive, spot-on harmonies, and has a powerful, distinctive voice. A clever and passionate songwriter, Torben crafts his original music with all the depth of his wide influence, and his songs are known for smart lyrics and catchy melodies set to lush harmony and driving rhythms.
