Early Parenting Workshop

If you’re expecting a baby, the Early Parenting Workshop by the Childbirth Education Association Darwin is one of the most valuable investments you can make before your baby arrives. This workshop is designed to be completed during pregnancy, because parenting begins from the very moment your baby is born. Being prepared beforehand can make those first days and weeks far less overwhelming and much more empowering.
Led by an experienced midwife, the workshop provides evidence-based, up-to-date information that helps parents feel confident, informed, and supported as they enter early parenthood. It also helps dispel many outdated parenting myths that can create confusion and unnecessary stress for new families.
One focus of the workshop is breastfeeding support, giving parents practical guidance, realistic expectations, and proven strategies to help establish breastfeeding with confidence from birth. Parents will also learn about the incredible relationship between breastfeeding and infant sleep — understanding how normal newborn feeding patterns, frequent waking, and responsive feeding are biologically connected to infant development, regulation, and emotional security. This knowledge can be incredibly reassuring for new parents and helps set realistic expectations for normal newborn behaviour.
The workshop also covers newborn care, settling techniques, sleep, parental wellbeing, team building with partners and other support people and what to realistically expect in those early weeks at home. Beyond the information itself, parents benefit from a supportive environment where they can ask questions openly, learn from an experienced midwife, and connect with other expectant families.
Whether you are a first-time parent or simply wanting a more positive and informed start, this workshop offers reassurance, practical skills, and confidence that will stay with you long after your baby is born.
$120 for two people. Please book by emailing [email protected] or use the ticket link below to submit a booking form via our website.
