Come and start your weekend with an early morning birdsong guided walk at Great Avon Wood.
The woodland, hedgerows and open country are ideal for a mix of woodland and countryside birds, with males singing to protect their territory and many pairs busy feeding young. On this walk, Ed will be helping everyone to listen to particular birds and perhaps learn one or two of the common sounds. We hope to hear birds such as blackbird, blackcap, robin, song thrush, skylark and chiffchaff. It is also a chance to simply enjoy listening to birdsong and nature at this time of day.
Ed Drewitt is no stranger to an early start and over the past 20 years has been showing people birds and helping others to hear and identify their songs. Ed is a freelance naturalist and works across the west showing people wildlife. He is based in the Forest of Dean which he shares with wild boar, deer and many different types of birds.
