Among some of the first examples of music to be printed on the Continent were songs to the lute. Jane Hunt and Din Ghani explore the early Italian and French repertoire for voice and lute as it evolved over the course of the 16th century. This was mostly intabulations for voice and lute of popular part-song genres such as the Italian Frottole and madrigale, and the Franco-Flemish chanson.
