Ealing Cycling Campaign Leisurely Ride: Battersea, Vauxhall & Kennington

Meet outside Ealing Town Hall from 9.45am for a 10am departure.

This is a slightly longer ride than usual (50.4km/ 31 miles), but the gradients are very gentle and we have plenty to stop and look at on the way.

We ride down from Ealing via Chiswick, Hammersmith, Fulham and Parsons Green, to cross the river on Wandsworth Bridge. We ride along the riverside through Battersea Reach into Battersea Park and then on to explore the new developments around Battersea Power Station, including this year’s Light Festival https://batterseapowerstation.co.uk/events/light-festival-2023/, the American Embassy building and the Sky Pool https://www.embassygardens.com/sky-pool/. Then we make our way to Vauxhall Park for our lunch stop. You can buy food in the Café Parco (sandwiches, pasta, salad, cakes, warm drinks) or bring a picnic lunch. After lunch, we ride across to Kennington Park and then back around to the Oval. We take a short detour to visit the secluded Harleyford Road Gardens https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/a-hidden-riot-of-greenery-next-to-the-oval-cricket-ground-11703/ and Bonnington Square Garden https://bonningtonsquaregarden.org.uk/about/ , before crossing back over the river at Vauxhall Bridge. Our return route then takes us through the Royal Parks and back to Ealing via Hammersmith, Ravenscourt and Acton Parks. We should return to Ealing by 3.30pm-4pm.

Remember to bring lights as it will be dusk for your onward ride home.
