Facilitator Carla Alcántara leads us through a workshop that is a unique celebration of Mexican culture and a heartfelt tribute to our deceased loved ones. Through a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach, participants will explore movement and dance cues accompanied by live music. Together, we will weave a collective ofrenda (shrine) using provided crafts and materials, honouring the traditions that unite us.Embracing the essence of Día de Muertos, the workshop reflects on death as both a remembrance and a celebration of life—inviting us to engage with personal griefs, the passage of time, and the ritual of honouring the memory of our beloved ones. Participants will also connect with the symbolic elements of earth, air, fire, and water as we create an embodied ofrenda, honouring both our ancestors and life’s constant transformations.
This gathering offers a meaningful space for the Latin community to reconnect with its roots and traditions, while warmly inviting the wider public to share in the beauty of celebrating the cycles of life and death through this important tradition.
