This April 30th, MXDC and Piñatas DMV invite you to celebrate Children's Day with a piñata workshop.

About MXDC

MXDC is a volunteer-led, nonprofit, nonpartisan, inclusive organization that fosters collaboration.

MXDC's mission is to organize and strengthen the community of Mexican professionals in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

The piñata workshop will be led by Piñatas DMV.

The goal of this workshop is to demonstrate the entire creation process, and participants will have the opportunity to decorate their own piñatas to their liking.

Piñatas have been adopted in many parts of the world and have become a common feature at parties and celebrations—particularly in Mexico, Central America, and the southern United States—largely due to the close influence of Mexican culture.

Typically made of cardboard, they are decorated in vibrant colors and filled with candies, chocolates, small toys, confetti, and colorful streamers. While they come in many sizes and shapes, the traditional design features spikes and takes the form of a star.

Information about the Workshop Instructor:

Martha Morales holds a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from El Colegio Esparza in Puebla, Mexico. She has spent twenty-eight years working with preschool-aged children, focusing on fostering their holistic development.

Seven years ago, she transformed her hobby of creating arts and crafts—specifically piñatas—into a business after being unable to find a suitable piñata for her grandson's birthday party. This experience inspired her to create custom designs for various events, thereby strengthening and promoting Mexican culture throughout the DMV region.
