Well, they plant, fish, make food and drink, but struggle to do anything else. Why? It takes a very long time for anything else to get done. I have quite a few visiting human bards in a tavern that is nicer than any other room. When I set a burrow outside the tavern all of them dutifully leave and get to work- except the one that went mad because not one person could be bothered to do the one (or any other) task I needed them to do. No drinking problems either.
