About this Event
A phenomenon which really took off in the Netherlands, Dutch genre paintings are often funny, sometimes moralistic, but always relatable, and still speak to us today even though we often miss the true stories they try to tell.
delivered by Art Historian Mariska Beekenkamp-Wladimiroff
Held at private members club Arti et Amicitiae*, this talk is in English, set in this historical building right in the centre of town, within easy reach of public transport. The lecture will simultaneously be transmitted online and shall be available as a replay.
The talk will start at 20.00, and will last for about an hour, afterwards we can make use of the private bar for a drink and some socialising!
*An artist's society, Arti et Amicitiae is both a building steeped in the history of the artist community of Amsterdam, and a contemporary exhibition space for contemporary local artists.
