Please join us on Thursday, April 25 from 5-7PM at 11th Street Station for this month's Green drinks with hosts Manna, Durango Trails, and SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab.
Manna is going to be speaking about their culinary program and garden. Two years ago, they reopened their resource center to provide a healthy and dignified free food market, quality balanced meals hot and ready-to-go every day, and case management services to folks in need. The garden remodel is 95% complete and growing space has been dramatically increased! All produce is going into their meals and free food market and they are hosting volunteer workdays starting May 16th on Thursday mornings 10 AM-12 PM in the garden. They will be having their second annual plant sale over Mother's Day weekend this year. The culinary program is going strong once again, with an open-enrollment class coming up in early May. Anyone who is seeking employment in restaurants is welcome to interview for classes. All community members are welcome to utilize Manna's services and programs as well as volunteer.
Durango Trails’ mission is to plan, build, and maintain world class trails; educate the community and create connections. Our vision is to build a community of trail users inspired by the connection to the outdoors through trails. We envision this unique destination in Southwest Colorado as a year-round recreational hub for trails, education, and access to the outdoors for all.
Founded in 1990, Durango Trails was formed with a two-part goal: preserve and protect Durango’s existing trail network, and build 200 miles of trail by the year 2000. Over that time, Durango Trails has created a system of trails that expands from urban interface, to mid country, to high country trails.
In 2020, Trails 2000 celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking the occasion with a name change to Durango Trails. Looking back over the past 30 years, Durango Trails is proud to have met its many goals, as Durango now has over 300 miles of trail within 30 minutes of downtown. Durango Trails is proudly celebrating its 34th anniversary as an organization in 2024.
The SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab is a public outdoor growing facility rooted in community engagement, educational and economic opportunity, multigenerational collaboration, cultural and ecological stewardship, and healthy living practices. SOIL aspires to realize this mission by hosting community members from across Southwest Colorado on educational field trips, community workshops, and events in an innovative and inclusive horticulture and education facility.
