Duplicating Form and Casting Glass with Dean Allison

What do you want to cast in glass? This class will give you an understanding and the internal tools to be able to achieve your ideas in cast glass. We will learn how to duplicate an object in wax using silicone. This class will teach you the basic processes involved in lost wax and investment molding. We will learn about an array of materials including silicon rubber, wax, plaster, and glass. We will discuss processes and applications involved in casting glass. The class will consist of demonstrations, lectures, and student work time. Each student should expect to take home one small finished casting in glass.

What to Expect: The class will include demonstrations, but students will make their own molds based on original designs and will prepare their castings independently. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page. 

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration. 

Additional work time for intensive students: Students will also have access to additional hours in the studio, without instruction, on Tuesday - Friday from 5-9pm.
