Experience the intuitive musical meeting between Swedish harpist and jazz vocalist Anna Jalkéus and Latvian countertenor and music producer Shipsea (Jānis Šipkēvics). Together they explore DUO as a creative space for musical experiments, vocal techniques, stage interaction, and improvisation—both a cappella and with instruments.
Anna Jalkéus
Harp, vocals
Anna Jalkéus is a Swedish singer, harpist, and composer recognized for her fearless, genre-bending music. She has received the JEN Young Composer Showcase award, the Swedish Monica Zetterlund and Ted Gärdestad awards, and several STIM scholarships. Her debut album Estrogenia (2018) was praised as “original jazz at its best” (LA Jazz Scene), and her works for harp ensemble are frequently performed in the U.S.
Since October 2021, Anna has been Associate Professor of Jazz Voice at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, previously teaching at the University of North Texas. She continues to perform internationally as both vocalist and harpist, collaborating widely and appearing at festivals and major venues across Europe, the U.S., and Asia.
Shipsea (Jānis Šipkēvics)
Voice, looper, piano
Shipsea is a music project founded by singer, songwriter and audio producer Jānis Šipkēvics. Once the top voice of the a cappella group Cosmos, he also co-founded Instrumenti - one of the most successful avant-pop acts in the Baltics, toured extensively and has opened for Björk, Arcade Fire, Whale Watching Tour, Mika, Depeche Mode and others. Jānis has collaborated with Gidon Kremer and the orchestra Kremerata Baltica, shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin and sang at Marina Abramović' long durational performance The Cleaner at the Modern Art Museum in Stockholm.
