Sunday 30th October 2022 10am. Dunkery Beacon Horner Woods Exmoor Autumn Circular Walk.Opportunity for those who would like to redo this one or who were unable to attend the original walk, this time we can enjoy some beautiful autumn colours in Horner Woods. Lets hope for better weather for this one!
This walk climbs to Dunkery Beacon on Dunkery Hill, the highest point in Exmoor and Somerset. On a clear day from the 1,705 feet (520 m) summit there are fabulous views over Exmoor, the Brecon Beacons, Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor, the Severn Bridges and the Bristol and English Channels.
The walk starts at the Horner Wood car park taking you through Horner Wood National Nature Reserve before climbing Dunkery Beacon and then returning back through woodland to Horner National Trust car park. The walk will include a stop for lunch please bring a packed lunch/ snacks and drinks as there are no shops along the route.
Meet at the Horner Tea Rooms National Trust Car Park at 10am.

Terrain: Moorland trails, upland heath, country lane and woodland. Hilly with steep, long ascent to reach Dunkery Beacon viewpoint. Paths stony in places, with wet and muddy patches in damp weather.

Parking: Horner Tea Rooms National Trust car park (National Trust free for members please check charges for non members)
Please wear weather/ ground conditions appropriate clothing/ footwear and bring a packed lunch/ snacks/drinks.
