The Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the crown jewel of Minnesota wilderness, is renowned as a vast preserve of remote lakes and rivers primarily accessed using canoes in summer or via skis/snowshoes in winter. While there is endless challenge and exploration to be found in these ways, there are other less traditional methods for moving about in the BWCA, either by themselves or in combination, to create epic adventures of all types and sizes. At the January gathering of the Duluth Explorers Club, we'll hear from three local adventure athletes about how they've put a new twist on experiencing the boundary waters: think open-water swimming, nordic blading, and multi-sport combos! Join us for a night of epic storytelling by adventure-loving locals looking to get creative in our most celebrated wilderness.
Social time at 7pm, presentation begins at 7:30. All are welcome. Free event!
About our presenters: Karina Krosbakken and Bria Schurke have been friends and adventure partners for a number of years. From adventure racing, to running, biking, skiing, and climbing they enjoy pushing their limits and scheming up silly ideas—never without coffee and hopefully topped off with ice cream! Tyler Kobilarcsik is an explorer, top-of-the-line athlete, and coach (highly recommended by Karina!) who, in similar fashion is known for scheming up big silly ideas, and often executing them with incredible speed and athletic ability.
