DUI Checkpoint Planning and Management
About this Event
This is an 8-hour, POST certified course designed to help Officers and Supervisors plan, and manage a successful DUI checkpoint. Topics include:
Preparing for the Checkpoint
Examining Your Local Records and Selection of Proper Locations.
Conducting a Proper Site Survey, Assessing the Impact on Local Businesses and the Neighborhood.
Determine the Type of Checkpoint (e.g. DUI or DUI/CDL).
Determining the Neutral Method for Stopping Cars.
Evaluating Expected Volume of Traffic.
Using Volunteers and Chaplains
Using Your Crime Lab.
Working with MADD.
Considerations for Supervising a Checkpoint: Obtaining Salary Information, Using Excel, Diagrams, Using Google Earth, Press Releases, Working with the Media and OTS, Evaluating Equipment Needs, Safety Considerations, Contingency Planning, Post Checkpoint Considerations, Collecting and Communicating the Data, Case Law and Courtroom Testimony
Refund Policy: DPrep will refund 50% of the tuition fee up to 10 days before the beginning of the course. There are no refunds or credits given for cancellations if made less than 10 days prior to the start date of the class or for classes not attended.
