Join us for an engaging presentation on Duesenberg J-209 and its original owner, Woogie Harris, a prominent businessman in 1930s Pittsburgh. Known for his lavish parties that often featured surprise celebrity guests, Woogie’s residence—“Mystery Manor”—became a cultural hotspot. He also generously rented the upper floors of his home to the National Negro Opera Company, fostering the arts within the community.
As Mystery Manor, located at 7101 Apple Street, undergoes significant restoration, we invite you to explore Woogie Harris’s contributions and the ongoing efforts to preserve this historic Black landmark in Pittsburgh.
Guest Speakers: We are thrilled to welcome Jonnett Solomon, Executive Director and a founding member of the National Opera House in Pittsburgh and Dawn Carroll, an award-winning designer, writer, and producer from Boston. Attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of Songs for Mary, a soundtrack album inspired by the stories of Mary Dawson, renowned musicians, and other visitors to Mystery Manor.
