1:15 p.m.-2:45 PM, Wednesday, November 5 at The Bell Bar & Restaurant, Dublin 15, D15 EW77, Ireland https://www.thebell.ie/Transport/travel: Venue is close to the M50 junction 6. There is a quite big car parking on site which should have plenty of spaces at this time of the day. Castleknock train station is 400 m away. There are bus stops very close.
All welcome. You don’t need to be a member of the Irish ME/CFS Association.
Register your interest (optional) by emailing me at [email protected] . Useful if we were to have to cancel it (hopefully unlikely) or you can't find us on the day. I don't promise to be able to reach everyone who hasn't registered if we did have to cancel.
Format: None. People chat spontaneously with others either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
Entrance: Free
Refreshments: People buy their own food and/or drink.
Length: People are free to stay on after 2.45 PM. But that is getting close to my energy/similar limit so I'll probably leave around then.
Inside or outside? I'm afraid given typical Irish weather in November, I can't see that being outside will suit.
Background: We've had a number of meet-ups here that went well. I'll be buying lunch for myself however other people don't need to buy lunch if they don't want: you can simply order a drink including tea or coffee. Carvery lunch is sold till 3 PM and that is what I'll be getting but there is also a general food menu that is available all day (though the general food menu is more expensive; I tend to get the half-portion carvery lunch which is a good size and costs €11.95 and free tap water). Our previous meet-ups here have had 6, 6, 8, 6, 4, 4, 5, 5, 2, 2 & 3 people at them respectably.
A place which I hope to meet at within the Bell is the carvery room (“carvery” over the door) where the carvery food is served. We have had it to ourselves a few times after the food stopped being served. It also has low stools that are a good height for me to put my feet up on.
All the previous meet ups there have been from 2:30 PM to 4 PM or something close to that. But 2 people have mentioned they could only make an earlier start time so I'm going to try an earlier meet up time. Feedback on preferred times would be welcome though 1:15 PM is probably the earliest I am willing to start at given my sleep pattern. And the carvery finishes at 3 PM so I would like to start before then. Unfortunately Saturdays don't seem like they would be suitable in the Bell as the carvery room isn't available and the sound can be on the TVs for people watching sport (unlike during the week when there is no sound on on the TVs and indeed there are no TVs in the carvery room).
