The Dublin Independent Film Festival returns for its 7th edition at the Lighthouse Cinema. Taking place on the 28th of August the independent film festival combines feature-length and short films showcasing the various forms of independent cinema. The 2025DIFF programme brings together 9 films by upcoming and established filmmakers from 8 different countries. It's a celebration of diversity multiculturalism and the power of indie films.
This year's festival kicks off with Wannes Destoop's feature film ‘Holy Rosita'. The dramatic comedy has been screened in numerous international film festivals and has been critically acclaimed for its approach to motherhood. In total it has been nominated 13 times and won over 10 awards.
The second strand of the Dublin Independent Film Festival 2025 celebrates the art of short filmmaking through 7 indie shorts. This programme sparks the mood with the film ‘A Bad Idea’ by the Irish filmmaker Conor Flynn and Herman Dahl's ‘The Final Meow’. Takes on a nostalgic journey of reflection and rediscovery with Rana Abushkhaidem's ‘Cinema Al-Amal’ where Mufeed revisits the abandoned cinema that was once full of life. And shows us the true portrait of a hard worker with the award-winning ‘Alarms’ by Nicolas Panay.
We are thrilled to feature indie gems by filmmakers of various backgrounds and showcase the power of independent cinema.
