Garba Workshop

About Artist:

Jigar Soni has been teaching authentic Garba since 1998, when he founded Soni’s School of Garba Dance (SSGD) with his brother Suhrad Soni, with a vision to preserve and promote traditional Gujarati Garba.

Today, SSGD is a global platform with a presence across 70 cities in 19 countries, teaching over 2,000 students every year. Their contribution to Indian culture has been recognised by numerous organisations, including an award at the UK House of Commons.

Jigar Soni is also a producer and choreographer behind multiple Falguni Pathak Garba anthems and is a member of the International Dance Council (CID), affiliated with UNESCO.

A rare opportunity to learn authentic Garba from one of the leading names taking the art form global.

Join us for 2.0 hours of Garba, bringing together rhythm, movement and the joy of dancing as a community.

We’ll start with a warm-up and Garba fundamentals, working on technique, coordination and stamina through simple drills. From there, we’ll learn a choreography step by step, with time to practise and bring it all together.

We’ll finish with 20 to 30 minutes of open floor Garba, a chance to dance together and enjoy the energy of the group.

Class flow:

Warm up & Foundations
Choreography & Drills

Open Floor Garba

Please arrive on time and have your booking details handy.

Please note: This is not a technique-only session and the class is open to all levels. While we’ll make time to capture your beautiful performances, the focus is on learning, dancing and enjoying Garba together rather than content creation.
