The City of DeLand will host a Dual Push-In Ceremony for Engine 81 and Ladder 81 on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 9 a.m. at DeLand Fire Station 81, located at 343 W. Howry Ave.The push-in ceremony is one of the oldest and most meaningful traditions in the fire service. In the days before motorized vehicles, firefighters and community members would physically push new apparatus into the station bay together, symbolizing the shared commitment between a department and the people it protects. That tradition continues today, and DeLand's firefighters are inviting the community to be part of it.
This event is separate from the Station 83 Re-Grand Opening held the week prior and is specific to Station 81 and its two new pieces of apparatus. Engine 81 and Ladder 81 represent a significant investment in DeLand's emergency response capabilities, and the push-in ceremony is the department's way of welcoming them into service the right way.
