Dual Art Exhibit Opening: Flourish & On Point (free to attend!)

Flourish is an exhibition of floral and botanical artworks from across the country. This is our 5th annual Flourish Exhibit, and this year it opens on the final day of Historic Garden Week in Virginia, making it the perfect event for local garden clubs and flower lovers to enjoy.

This is a juried exhibition, and it will be co- curated by Gallery DirectorAmanda Bradley, and by Juror and Artist, . Lynne is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists working in watercolor and ink and is also a botanical art teacher at The Norfolk Botanical Gardens.

d'Art Center received 740 submissions from over 200 artists from 37 states for considertaion for this year's exhibit. Just 63 works from 58 artists and 19 states were selected.

Every year we reach out to local floral artists and invite them to join us for our opening reception by adding EVEN MORE beauty to our Annual Flourish Exhibit while also promoting themselves! Each floral artist selects a piece from the exhibit and creates an arrangement inspired by that piece. The arrangements are revealed during the opening reception of the exhibit! Arrangements will be for sale to benefit d'Art Center.

On Point! is an exhibition of artworks that showcase contemporary embroidery from across the country. Today’s embroidery artists are pushing the boundaries of traditional needlework techniques by combining them with new and creative methods, proving that embroidery should no longer be considered a purely functional and decorative craft.

d'Art Center received 127 submissions from 39 artists from 20 states for consideration for the On Point! exhibit. Just 27 wotks from 22 artists and 12 states were selected.
