Screenwriters and the Dallas International Film Festival with James Faust, Artistic Director of DIFF"Where storytellers and audiences gather"
That's the first statement on the homepage of the Dallas International Film Festival website, and an essential concept for screenwriters to understand.
So, how appropriate that as DIFF celebrates its 20th anniversary, with its 2026 edition running from April 23-30, DSA will be joined by the festival's artistic director, James Faust.
A little over a week before DIFF's Opening Night, James will talk to DSA all about the festival, its Screenwriting Competition, and what DIFF does during the other 51 weeks of the year. All of it geared toward screenwriters.
The meeting will be in-person, live with James on Tuesday, April 14th from 7:00-9:00pm. We will be at KD Studio, at its NEW location at *13465 Midway Road, Farmers Branch, TX 75244. Meet in the Black Box Theatre.
As part of the benefits of a DSA membership, the meeting is FREE to Members.
For guests, it will be $10, which can be paid at the door, preferably by cash.
We want our meetings to be open to as many people as possible while still encouraging you all to officially become a part of the DSA membership and help it grow from an organization to a community!
So go to our website to become a 2026 member, if you're not one already.
Also, check out the Dallas International Film Festival website (diffdallas.org/diff) for info, passes, schedules, and more. Then, get ready to fest April 23rd-30th!
See you April 14th!
Speaker Bio:
James Faust likes to rock and watch movies. Not in that order. He began as the festival’s Senior Programmer at our inception back in 2006, when we were still called AFI DALLAS. That position followed programming roles with the Asian Film Festival of Dallas, The Austin Film Festival and Texas Black Film Festival. A die-hard Raiders fan, James received Telecommunication and Theatre degrees at Texas Tech University, which he followed up with a degree in Cinema Studies at Southern Methodist University. He has served on juries and panels all over the world speaking about film festival management, programming and marketing.
