About this Event
All DIYD workshops have Pay What You Can ticket options.
If the Full Cost Ticket is financially comfortable for you, we ask that you purchase this ticket to help DIYD offset the costs of workshop expenses.
If the Full Cost Ticket is a stretch for you at this time, choose a lower cost ticket that suits your financial capacity. Choose the “Pay What You Can” option to purchase a ticket for as low as $1.
If you would like to make a donation to DIYD, choose the 125% cost ticket option or use the Pay What You Can option to make a donation of any amount. (And thank you!)
For more information about how DIYD uses the revenue from ticket costs, scroll down to our FAQ section below.
In this workshop, students will be shown how to fix damaged drywall with hands on practice. We’ll start by learning about how house framing looks and functions behind the drywall, and then will learn how to prepare or remove a section of damaged drywall, patch or replace it with new drywall, apply coats of drywall mud, and sand it down to perfection, before painting.
Lead Poisoning Hazard Disclaimer: All home renovation work can create a significant lead hazard if completed in a pre-1978 home. DIYD will provide Lead Poisoning Prevention resources to any workshop attendee living in a pre-1978 home. DIYD also hosts a lead safety class twice a year - we highly recommend that you sign up for the lead safety class before you complete these projects in your home if your home was built before 1978 and you have young children living in your home.
About instructor Andrew Hall:
"I'm the type of person who has been building and fixing things my entire life. The transition into home repair and remodel work as a career was a natural one. I grew up in the south and met my wife while working in Indianapolis. We moved to Cincinnati 6 years ago and have two beautiful girls. I enjoy home repair for the fact of making old things new again. I’m also learning new things each day which drives me to continue to expand my skill set and never stop learning. Teaching others what I’ve learned gives me fulfillment to know good skills are being passed onto other people. Working as a lead craftsman at my current job gives me the opportunity to showcase my skill set as we renovate homes all around the Cincinnati area. I look forward to sharing my abilities with others so they too can better care for their homes.”
About Do It Yourself Darlin Workshops:
Do It Yourself Darlin (DIYD) hosts educational, hands-on home repair workshops for new and veteran homeowners, renters, and everyone in between. The program aims to empower anyone and everyone to feel comfortable and confident understanding the components that make up a house while learning home repair and tool use skills along the way. All of DIYD‘s workshops are geared toward beginners, pay-what-you-can, taught by local Cincinnati craftspeople, and open to everyone ages 16 and up.
DIYD is a program of the non-profit CDC Price Hill Will. DIYD’s programming is made possible through grant funding, sponsorships, donations, and workshop ticket sales.
