Falcon Jane bring their beautiful indie-country tunes, followed by Drop Dead Poppies who are sure to rock the house down. You won’t want to miss this hot summer music night!

A new outfit featuring old friends, DROP DEAD POPPIES formed in the spring of 2022 to record a demo showcasing singer-guitarist Poppy Miers’ material. In those sessions, the quartet quickly found a shared affinity for a roots rock sound and moved beyond the original scope of the project, playing their first shows through the summer in Toronto. The lineup features drummer David Sufrin and bassist Mike Strizic, along with guitarist Paul Phelan, whose slide guitar and pedal steel make the outfit feel much larger than a four-piece. Soulful, raucous, with just the right amount of floor stomping, Drop Dead Poppies is the city’s newest barn burner (but they’ll help with the cleanup).

FALCON JANE is touring in support of their forthcoming album, Legacy. The album is a collection of indie-leaning alt-country songs exploring the classic archetypes of country music: the drinker, the trucker, the outlaw. Songwriter Sara May draws influence from her childhood growing up on a dirt road on the outskirts of a town known for its Honda plant and Potato Festival, and pairs it with inspiration from Americana contemporaries like Waxahatchee and Angel Olsen. The result is breezy, lively alt-country music commanded by Sara’s emphatic vocal performances.
