Driving Business Growth in the West Midlands through Servitization: A Business Model Innovation Workshop
About this Event

Please join us for this invitation-only workshop on driving business growth in the West Midlands through Servitization, hosted by the Advanced Services Group at Aston University, and the West Midlands Combined Authority.

The Context

Economic growth remains a key priority for the UK government in national and regional policymaking, but while many policies aim to accelerate the growth agenda, business model innovation - particularly Servitization - remains underexplored and underutilised in the UK.

World-leading research from Aston University’s Advanced Services Group shows that servitization – the act of expanding a business model from selling standalone products to delivering services, or integrated product-service systems – is a proven strategy for businesses to enhance their competitiveness and resilience in manufacturing. Servitization improves business performance, strengthens innovation ecosystems, and should be championed by UK policymakers as a pivotal additional source of regional and national productivity growth.

Event Objectives

This workshop will bring together key regional stakeholders in business leadership and policymaking in order to:

✅Showcase evidence-based insights on how servitization drives business growth and productivity in manufacturing firms

✅Discuss how businesses across the West Midlands region might benefit from this research by exploring and adopting business model innovation through Servitization

✅Explore the specific risks, challenges and opportunities of the Servitization model and provide practical guidance on implementation strategies for SMEs

✅Explore how research insights on Servitization might be used to inform wider business growth strategies and economic policy in the West Midlands and beyond.

Full joining instructions will be sent via email three days before the event. If you experience any issues with registration or require further information, please contact [email protected].
