The best way to spread holiday cheer is for GLOWING BRIGHT for all to see.
WEATHER PERMITTING, the local Statesville balloon pilots and their crew will be hosting a free Holiday Balloon Glow at the Statesville Soccer Complex on Saturday, December 14th. Starting at 5:30 p.m., drive through the park and experience the magic of balloons illuminating through the night.
The pilots and crew are donating their time and expertise to give back to the community during this special time of year. In lieu of any admission costs, we are asking that guests donate non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for Iredell Christian Ministry. Volunteers will be ready to collect your donations as you drive through the park.
As with any hot air balloon activity, the glow will be WEATHER DEPENDENT. Stay tuned to this page for updates leading up to the event. In the event that the weather will not cooperate, a back-up date has been reserved for Saturday, December 21st, 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
Q&A:
Is this free?
Yes! No admission cost. Instead of an admission fee, we are asking for donations of non-perishable food items which will be given to Iredell Christian Ministries. Volunteers will collect these as you drive through the park. Everyone involved is donating their time, equipment and expertise to make this happen and help this deserving organization in a time of need.
How many balloons will there be?
About 8-10
Can we park and stay or just drive by?
No parking, please. Please drive through, enjoy the show, and keep moving. We thank you for your cooperation.
Who is organizing this?
This event is organized by the local balloon pilots with some help from other volunteers in our community. Please be patient with us and each other as we are sure there will be hiccups and lots of traffic. Please remember it’s all about enjoying the holidays and giving!
Will the balloons fly away?
No! We cannot fly after dark since we can’t see good landing places. We’ll stay tied down to the ground and light our beautiful balloons up every few seconds like giant colorful luminaries!
