Driedaagse Choreografie / Three days of choreography

Kies een choreograaf en dompel jezelf drie dagen onder in de kunst van de choreografie.

Gedurende drie dagen dompel je jezelf onder in de wereld van een choreograaf naar keuze. Drie dagen lang maak je kennis met de kneepjes van het vak en ga je aan de slag om je eigen choreografie op te bouwen. Je hebt de keuze uit drie choreografen die elk vanuit hun eigen persoonlijke professionele parcours ervaringen en tips doorgeven. Drie groepen gaan aan de slag in hun eigen studio. De driedaagse wordt afgesloten met een uitwisseling tussen de drie groepen.

De driedaagse richt zich op choreografen, dansdocenten en dansers die zowel als amateur of preprofessioneel aan de slag gaan met danscreaties.

• Bewust worden van het thema dat in jou klaarstaat om vorm te krijgen.
• Inspiratie verzamelen die voeding geeft aan jouw gekozen thema, in de vorm van teksten, gedichten, muziek, filmfragmenten, schilderkunst, fotografie, de natuur, media …
• Een storyboard creëren.
• Abstracte basiscomposities maken in de ruimte waardoor jouw thema tot leven kan komen.
• Uitdrukking geven aan jouw thema via je lichaamstaal.
• Vanuit intuïtief gedrag patronen, een ritme en bewegingen creëren die jouw thema aansturen.
• Bewegingsfrases creëren via improvisatie vanuit jouw innerlijke intuïtie en behoefte, die het begin van jouw creatie tekent.
• Een frame bepalen waar het begin, midden en einde een startpunt zijn voor je uiteindelijke korte of lange choreografie/creatie/concept.

Isabelle Beernaert (25-10-1973) is een Vlaamse choreografe, regisseur en scenograaf van moderne dans-theaterproducties.

Ze heeft een carrière opgebouwd als professionele danser, docente, coach en choreograaf – producent. Ze voltooide een professionele opleiding in Klassiek Ballet, diverse moderne en hedendaagse technieken en etnische danstechnieken, natuurlijke bewegingsmethodes , beeldende kunst en muziek. Daaraan het toevoegen van spirituele, holistische, eeuwenoude kennis en filosofieën van verschillende culturen.

Hoe kan je een compositie maken op basis van partnering? Deze speelse partnering-workshop verkent de verbinding tussen lichaam en ruimte. Met behulp van een reeks opdrachten geïnspireerd op somatische oefeningen, gevechtsporten en architectonische compositie verkennen de deelnemers de basisprincipes. Deelnemers worden aangemoedigd om: zintuiglijk bewustzijn te gebruiken, met compositie te werken, keuzes te maken, risico’s te nemen, zich authentiek uit te drukken en los te laten. Deze workshop is bedoeld voor bewegers die hun creatieve denken en bewegen willen uitbreiden. Elke dag wordt stap voor stap opgebouwd, het vertrouwen en plezier is de basis. De intensieve driedaagse ondersteunt de ontwikkeling van choreografische vaardigheden.

De Belgisch geboren Laura Vanhulle verhuisde in 2006 naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk om haar BA(hons) diploma te behalen aan de Northern School of Contemporary Dance en werd geselecteerd voor een stage bij Ace Dance and Music, Shobana Jeyasingh (Counterpoint) en Motionhouse (The Voyage). Sindsdien heeft ze een succesvolle carrière opgebouwd en opgetreden voor diverse gezelschappen en choreografen, waaronder Ace Dance and Music, Gary Clark, Gustavo Oliveira, Rogue Play, South Paw dance Company, Mickael Marso Riviere, Oliver Robert Russell, Coda Dance Theatre, Keneish Dance Theatre, Sonia Sabri Company, Room2Manoeuvre, Autin Dance Theatre en James Wilton, met nationale en internationale tournees.

Maak je dansvoorstellingen voor musicals of showdance, in welke aard dan ook? Drie dagen lang dompelt Peter Kongs je onder in de rijke traditie van de musical. Hoe begin je aan een choreografie? Hoe creëer je passenmateriaal voor je musical of showdans? Hoe verhoudt het bewegingsmateriaal zich tegenover de muziek? Hoe maak je groepsformaties en laat je formaties evolueren? Wat zijn logische en handige overgangen? Hij geeft je een palet aan choreografische systemen die je kan inzetten voor jouw creatie.

Dit en nog veel meer geeft Peter met veel toewijding mee om jou te helpen bij je creatieproces.

Peter Kongs begon zijn opleiding klassiek en modern ballet aan de Balletacademie van Brabant en bij Mudra in Brussel. Hij studeerde jazzdans bij o.a. Jac Delsing en later bij Steps 74th en David Howard Dance Center in New York. Hij danste bij Pro Arte Gymnastica, Broadway Dance ’87 en Dancin’ Hollywood in Tokyo (Japan) en deed mee in West Side Story van het Koninklijk Ballet van Vlaanderen. Hij trad op in dansvideo’s, commercials, operettes, musicals en deed diverse TV-optredens. Nu is hij vakhoofd dans en stagebegeleider in de musicalafdeling van het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel, geeft specifieke vakdidactiek musical-dans en is stagebegeleider in de educatieve master musical, de kunsthumaniora Brussel, de academie van Lebbeke en Studio Dansemble. Hij geeft ook bijscholingen en stages voor dansers en dansdocenten bij o.a Fedes, Amsterdam Dance Center, KVT en OVSG. Verder werkt hij als choreograaf voor Broadway Dance Center Tokyo, Marisa Allen, Studio 100, VTM, VT4, Ketnet en anderen in programma’s zoals Let’s Dance en Tegen de sterren op.

Choose a choreographer and immerse yourself in the art of choreography for three days.

For three days you will immerse yourself in the world of a choreographer of your choice. Three days long you will learn the tricks of the trade and get to work building your own choreography. You have a choice of three choreographers who each share their experiences and tips from their own personal professional paths. Three groups will work in their own studio. The three days will end with an exchange between the three groups.

The three-day workshop is aimed at choreographers, dance teachers and dancers who are working on dance creations as amateurs or as pre-professionals.

• Becoming aware of the theme within you that is ready to take shape.
• Gather inspiration that feeds your chosen theme, in the form of texts, poems, music, film clips, painting, photography, nature, media …
• Creating a storyboard.
• Creating abstract basic compositions in space that allow your theme to come to life.
• Expressing your theme through your body language.
• Using intuitive behavior to create patterns, rhythm and movements that drive your theme.
• Create phrases of movement through improvisation from your inner intuition and need, drawing the beginning of your creation.
• Defining a frame where the beginning, middle and end are a starting point for your final short or long choreography/creation/concept.

Isabelle Beernaert (25-10-1973) is a Flemish choreographer, director and scenographer of modern dance-theater productions.

She has built a career as a professional dancer, teacher, coach and choreographer-producer. She completed professional training in Classical Ballet, various modern and contemporary techniques and ethnic dance techniques, natural movement methods, visual arts and music. To this adding spiritual, holistic, ancient knowledge and philosophies of different cultures.

How can you create a composition based on partnering? This playful partnering workshop explores the connection between body and space. Using a series of assignments inspired by somatic exercises, martial arts and architectural composition, participants explore the basics. Participants are encouraged to: use sensory awareness, work with composition, make choices, take risks, express themselves authentically and let go. This workshop is designed for movers who want to expand their creative thinking and movement. Each day is built step by step, confidence and fun is the foundation. The intensive three days supports the development of choreographic skills.

Belgian-born Laura Vanhulle moved to the UK in 2006 to complete her BA(hons) degree at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and was selected for an internship with Ace Dance and Music, Shobana Jeyasingh (Counterpoint) and Motionhouse (The Voyage). How do you create movement material for your musical or show dance? How does the movement material relate to the music? How do you create group formations and allow formations to evolve? What are logical and convenient transitions? He gives you a palette of choreographic systems that you can use for your creation.

Peter diligently imparts this and much more to help you in your creative process.

Peter Kongs began his training in classical and modern ballet at the Ballet Academy of Brabant and at Mudra in Brussels. He studied jazz dance with Jac Delsing among others and later with Steps 74th and David Howard Dance Center in New York. He is now the head of dance and stage manager in the musical department of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, teaches specific didactics of musical dance and is stage manager in the educational master musical, the Kunsthumaniora Brussel, the academy of Lebbeke and Studio Dansemble. He also gives refresher courses and internships for dancers and dance teachers at Fedes, Amsterdam Dance Center, KVT and OVSG, among others. Furthermore, he works as a choreographer for Broadway Dance Center Tokyo, Marisa Allen, Studio 100, VTM, VT4, Ketnet and others in programs such as Let’s Dance and Tegen de sterren op.
