Dressmaking Studio: Pattern Cutting & Design [5 Week Course]
About this Event
Dressmaking Studio: Pattern Cutting & Design
The Core Focus: Drafting, Fitting, & Design Engineering.
Who it is for: Advanced Beginners / Intermediates who already know how to sew basic garments and want to learn how to create, fit, and alter their own paper patterns.
What you will do:
- Stage 1 (The Foundation Block): Draft a 2-piece master block for tops/skirts. Make and adjust a fabric toile (prototype) to achieve a bespoke fit.
- Stage 2 (Silhouette & Manipulation): Learn technical styling methods to manipulate your block into new designs using darts, seams, yokes, gathers, pleats, and flounces.
Sewing Involved: Minimal. Machine sewing is limited strictly to assembling the basic fit toile.
Key Takeaway: You walk away with permanent master pattern blocks tailored to your body and the technical knowledge to design your own patterns from scratch.
