Dreams Under Grass, the ambient project of Aidan Priest (Cyclone Mavis/Honest Dan), is playing their first headline show at LongPlay in Fitzroy North. Supported by My Lovely Haunting and Iz Butcher.
Dreams Under Grass sits at the intersection of a variety of styles, all of which present different perspectives of the same idea: feeling music as much as playing it. Aidan draws equally from the novel melodies of Brian Eno, the textures of shoegaze and drone, the hypnotic pulses of Steve Reich, and the structured improvisation of jazz; and the music (recorded on cassette) is brought to life on the stage with the help of guitarists Tass Coomer (Great Australian Bank) and Evan Jones (Malibu Spacey), flautist Nagisa Kaneko, and bassist Tudor Sava.
