Join us for an evening of evocative storytelling and virtuosic artistry through the piano repertoire, spanning the lyrical intimacy of the late Romantic era to the vibrant modernism of the twentieth century. This recital brings together works of poetic reflection, dazzling color, and emotional intensity by some of the most distinctive voices in classical music.
The program opens with Amy Beach’s A Hermit Thrush at Eve, a hauntingly atmospheric work inspired by birdsong and twilight stillness, followed by her delicate and expressive “Dreaming” from 4 Sketches. Maurice Ravel’s elegant Sonatine showcases refined textures, graceful lyricism, and sparkling brilliance across its three contrasting movements.
Gabriel Fauré’s luminous Nocturne No. 6 offers a world of subtle passion and flowing melody, while Frédéric Chopin’s monumental Ballade No. 1 in G Minor unfolds as a dramatic and deeply personal musical narrative, culminating in one of the most thrilling finales in the piano literature.
The second half ventures into bold rhythmic and harmonic landscapes with Alberto Ginastera’s Suite de Danzas Criollas, a vivid celebration of Argentine folk traditions and fiery dance rhythms. The program concludes with Alexander Scriabin’s transcendent Piano Sonata No. 4, a mystical and ecstatic journey that rises from dreamy introspection to breathtaking flight.
This compelling program invites audiences into a richly varied sound world of imagination, color, and emotional depth.
