About this Event
What would it look like to practice the world we want to live in — right now?
This potluck dinner is centered on prefiguration: a concept from social and political theory that asks us to embody our values in our everyday practices, relationships, and ways of being together. Instead of waiting for a better future, prefiguration invites us to live it into existence — through cooperation, shared responsibility, care, and collective joy.
We’ll gather around food (bring a dish to share), conversation, and community to explore questions like:
- What does it mean to practice solidarity, not just talk about it?
- How do our homes, meals, and relationships reflect the futures we’re trying to build?
- What small, tangible practices help us resist isolation, fear, and paralysis?
This is not a lecture or panel — it’s a hosted, lightly facilitated dinner designed for connection, curiosity, and thoughtful conversation. Come as you are. Bring a dish that feels meaningful, easy, or experimental. All levels of familiarity with political theory are welcome.
Why now?
In moments of uncertainty and overwhelm, gathering intentionally — sharing food, ideas, and responsibility — is itself an act of prefiguration.
Community over consumption
Practice over perfection
Together over alone
