For its South African tour, the Centro Coreografico Nazionale / Aterballetto presents the evocatively titled evening Dreamers, a precious occasion where bodies and music meet once again in a shared rhythm.
The triple bill features Preludio by the Italian choreographer Diego Tortelli, who has been closely connected with the company since 2018: a love letter to the body for five dancers, built around some of the most intense poems and songs by the Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave, whose unmistakable voice envelops the audience.
At the heart of the evening is the duet “O” by German choreographer Philippe Kratz, a former leading dancer with Aterballetto and now a creator sought after by major international theaters. A small masterpiece with an unstoppable rhythm, it hypnotically captures the viewer.
The evening concludes with the sextet Alpha Grace, Philippe Kratz’s reflection on empathy, “a gentle form of communication – the choreographer states – between people who feel on the same level.”
