Discover the versatility of pencil and pastels as you learn how to create depth, texture, tone and colour in your artwork. Through a series of guided exercises and projects, you'll explore techniques such as shading, blending, layering and colour mixing to create expressive drawings and studies.
Whether you're completely new to drawing or looking to develop existing skills, this friendly and supportive course will help you build confidence, improve observation skills and develop your own artistic style. Working from a variety of subjects, you'll learn how to capture light, form and detail while experimenting with the unique qualities of both pencil and pastel.
By the end of the course, you'll have a collection of finished pieces and a range of techniques that you can continue to use in your own artwork at home.

About the Tutor:
My work with Soft Pastels began in 1972, over 50 years ago, and I still learn with every day that I draw/paint with them. Regardless of the medium we will use it in the study of landscape, nature, portraiture and still life. My experience is fully available to take members along their own path in their own areas of interests and to help them Observe...Observe...Observe..., the key to all great work.
