We’ll be examining how to realistically depict shadows and highlights to give your drawings a three-dimensional look and place the subjects convincingly in space. I’ll also demonstrate pointillism, hatching and cross-hatching, in addition to “regular” shading.
Materials
Drawing pad 11 x 14” (or larger)
Pencils (6B, 8B)
Kneaded eraser
Class size limited to 8.
Artist bio: I’ve been sketching and doodling ever since I can remember, including inscribing “The Creature” in scary letters on our front window sill at age 7. I have a BFA in Drawing and Painting from UW-Milwaukee, and worked as a graphic artist and illustrator for 40+ years. Inspired by the Coulee region’s beauty, I also ran a gallery in Lansing, Iowa for 8 years. I hope you’ll find drawing to be relaxing, fun and a way to spark creativity—no matter your skill level.
