Drawing as Interface: Tracing Fissures and Lingerings
Walk & Sketch at Purana Qila
Facilitated by Rahul Juneja
Part of City as Museum series
22 June 2024
7:30 am – 9:30 am
Assembly Point - Purana Qila Ticket Counter
This walk will look at drawing as an interface, to think of intercepting traces, lingerings and retracing historical presences found within the site of Purana Qila. The act of walking and drawing will be key towards slowing down and shift perceptual registers, to think of the histories and legacies that might lie underneath the very ground we walk on. This process will also provoke the participants, to think of not only what they see in the site, but what the site might have seen throughout time.
The ticketed walk is open to all participants 18 years and above. Participants are required to carry a sketchbook, pens, pencils (any drawing medium of choice) and also fevicol or any other adhesive, in case they choose to collect non-archaeological material present on site.
Rahul Juneja is a multiform artist based between Karnal and New Delhi in India. He completed his BFA (Painting) from College of Art, New Delhi and MFA from Shiv Nadar Institute of Eminence.

He has also given lectures and artist talks at Jindal Global University, and College of Art, New Delhi.
City as Museum Series: The programme reimagines the city as a museum with a life of its own and its visitor as the flâneur, a mindful passerby. Each walk will be unique in itself and led by an expert thoroughly knowledgeable in the subject matter and the specific urban site of concern. The series will locate and bring into discourse specific zones of engagement in Delhi and the National Capital Region that have served as a repository of local history and creative inspiration to a community of individual artists. Each walk will aim to revisit and engage with certain urban spaces as a means to claim a piece of the shared lived experience through an approach using oral dissemination and immersive participation.
