About the Event

Over the last two centuries, ZSL and UCL have worked alongside one another to advance scientific understanding, education and conservation - from pioneering zoological research and training future conservationists, to tackling some of the biggest environmental challenges facing the planet today.

For this event, we have specially selected some of our favourite specimens that highlight the history between our museum and ZSL, or reference the conservation work that ZSL is championing across the world. Some specimens will be brought outside of the cabinets to draw up close, as well as a pop-up display of artworks from UCL and ZSL archives and collections.

This event is unfacilitated, leaving you to draw at your own pace, after the museum has closed to the public. No experience is needed and all drawing materials and tools will be provided. If you wish to bring your own, due to conservation of the collection, please only bring pencils (graphite and coloured).

This event is free to attend but due to venue capacity we are operating a ballot system:

  • The ballot is now closed and results will be announced by 5pm on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and winning entrants will have until Saturday 5 November to confirm their ticket/s before we offer the place out to somebody else on the ballot.
