DRAW YOUR LANGUAGE! Fundraiser For Gaza Workshop

In this fundraiser workshop, you will get the chance to learn what a language portrait is and to draw your own. In short, a language portrait is the visual representation of your language or languages – those you speak or understand, those you are surrounded by, those you would like to learn, or anything else that matters to you.

It is not only a fun, creative activity, but also a great way to reflect on what is called your linguistic biography – that is, your life trajectory and the role languages have played in it.

Whether you are an experienced artist or can barely hold a pencil, it doesn't matter! You may not be sure how to draw your language portrait at the start, but we promise: once you sit down with paper and colours, it will be a wonderful journey to (re)discover your linguistic resources and memories.

Join us on Sunday, the 22nd of September, from 4 to 6 pm at the Vault Artist Studios in the heart of Belfast City Centre (Marlborough House, 28-32 Victoria Street).

Delicious afternoon tea snacks, with vegetarian and GF options, will be provided during the workshop.

Paper for the portrait and coloured pencils will be provided, but feel free to bring your own art supplies as well if you would like!

The workshop will be facilitated by Nicole Marinaro, PhD researcher at Ulster University.

The money raised in this workshop will be sent directly to a family living in Gaza.
