Drake University Flute Day

This event is geared toward high school students and anyone who loves the flute; all are welcome. Enjoy workshops, performances, and networking with fellow flute enthusiasts. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of flute music!

• 9 am: Check-in; practice rooms are available for warming up.

• 10-10:50 am: Flute Choir Reading Session with Flutist Elizabeth Robinson. Bring flutes, piccolos, and low flutes and enjoy! - Harmon Fine Arts Center - Monroe 004

• 11-11:50 am: Basics of Flute Repair and Maintenance with Flutist and Repair Expert Keith Hanlon - Turner Jazz Center

• Noon: lunch – pizzas will be provided - Turner Jazz Center

• 1 pm: Flute Choir Rehearsal with Kelly Via. Bring flutes, piccolos, and low flutes. Music rehearsed in this session will be performed in the closing recital. - Sheslow Auditorium

• 2-3 pm: All State Auditions Coaching with a panel of local flutists
• • Those who will be auditioning for All State: bring your flutes, solos, the All State Etudes, and Scales
  • Those who will not be auditioning, bring flute and scales, plus all state etudes for reference
• 2-3 pm: Elizabeth Robinson – Drake University Flute Studio master Class

• 3:30 pm: Flute Day Recital with Flute Day Choir, Des Moines Flute Choir, plus solo and chamber works - Sheslow Auditorium

*Pizza will be provided for lunch in Turner Jazz Center or you may eat on your own.
