Celebrating the Power of the Arts to Reveal, Heal and Transform!
About this Event

Please join HopeWorks as we celebrate the 2026 publication of HopeWorks’ Dragonfly arts and transformative justice magazine by bringing together incredible artists, poets, and musicians for an evening of sharing, connection, and joy!

Dragonfly is made possible by the Howard County Arts Council through a grant from the Howard County Government.

ABOUT THE EVENT

This FREE in-person evening provides a dynamic opportunity to experience the power of words and the vital role that the arts play in promoting healing, awareness, and change.

Please be advised that some material may be unsettling or disturbing in nature.

Who is eligible to read their work?

Poets who have been published in any issue of Dragonfly are eligible to read at the event.

Open Mic

If time permits, the public may have the opportunity to read as part of a poetry open mic following the 2026 published authors.

Sign-up for the open mic will be at the time of the event. Work must be related to the magazine’s themes of relationships, love, self-esteem, trauma, social justice, hope, or self-renewal.

ABOUT HopeWorks

HopeWorks is Howard County Maryland’s rape crisis and domestic violence center. We provide direct support to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence (including adult survivors of child sexual abuse). And we work in the community to change the culture that allows these forms of violence to continue.

HopeWorks’ services include crisis shelter, counseling, advocacy, legal resources, survivor leadership & wellness programs, prevention education, professional trainings, community self-care & social justice programs and volunteer opportunities.

The Arts as a Tool For Healing

At HopeWorks, we use the arts in three important ways to accomplish our mission: to support survivors in their healing; as a vehicle to increase awareness; and to imagine creative solutions to bring about social change.

Dragonfly arts & transformative justice magazine, published each spring, is one of our most popular arts-based projects.

Visit our website for information about our arts-based healing programs, workshops and events.
